How much will my renovation project cost?

Will my project require council consent?

Projects which only require minor updates, which will not interfere with the original structure of your home, generally won’t require council consent - although it’s always best to check this with a renovation specialist. If your project includes structural changes or additions, changes to electrical work, plumbing, gas works or drainage; council consent probably will be required. Your renovation specialist will advise you if this is the case, and can take care of the planning and application process for you. Keep in mind that, if you live in an apartment, you will likely need the permission of your body corporate to carry out renovation works. 

What are some important considerations when planning a home renovation?

There are a few things that we recommend considering as you begin the renovation planning process. Firstly, it’s important to figure out your priorities. While we can relate to anyone wanting to include hardwood flooring, chandeliers, skylights, a home gym and spa room in their design - it’s best to start with the basics and work your way up from there - particularly if you have a budget to stick to. From there, do some research, and put together a collection of inspirational projects that you would be interested in imitating within your own home.
