Expansive Elegance: Crafting the Dream Kitchen by Redefining Space

Why did the homeowners want to remodel? 

Homeowners were tired of their small kitchen, from the outdated cabinets to the limited storage and counter space, they were ready for the kitchen remodel of their dreams! They wanted to really expand the space, open it up into the dining room, as well as the formal and informal living rooms. They brought Chris Kuhr, Portland’s Refresh Renovations consultant in to assist with turning their dreams into reality. Chris and his team worked with the homeowners to ensure their dreams for the space were captured in the design. From there a budget, and plan for the remodel evolved. Once the details were finalized, work began! 

Dream Kitchen! 

Demo in this project consisted of removing multiple walls, the entire kitchen, and flooring of the dining room, kitchen and informal living room. Electricians can in and created a new electrical path for the oven range’s new location (in the island). 

New cabinets were installed. The homeowners decided on white, with a modern shaker door style and stainless steel hardware, to tie in with their stainless steel appliances. Sleek white quartz countertops with a full bullnose edge profile where installed. Instead of a farm sink, the homeowners decided to switch it up and go with a stainless steel undermount sink. 

The main feature of this dream kitchen is the island. This island was a must for homeowners, they’ve always wanted this feature for both cooking and entertaining. This island is huge, with enough countertop overlay, making it perfect for up to 5 people to dine at or just hang out in the kitchen. New ascent lighting was installed over the island to provide additional lighting, but to also highlight the main focal point of the kitchen. 

Another feature that was a must was a luxurious full size wine fridge, aesthetically placed next to the fridge, also in a stainless steel finish. New vinyl plank flooring was installed throughout the kitchen, dining room and an informal living room.
